We currently have maybe a foot of snow on the ground right now in northern Indiana, and this is what one of the parking lot piles looks like at the local Walmart as of last night.
Someone posted a weather report that predicts another 16" of snow for our area between now and next Wednesday. So I'm curious to see how big these piles are going to get by then. I'll try to post a comparison if it's worthwhile.

Quite a neat picture. How far are you from Garrett/Ft Wayne?

We have maybe like 3 or 4 inches on the ground. What is going on in the rest of Indiana?!?!

We're now up to about 36" so far this winter here in Madison, WI. There are snow mountains like this everywhere.

Son of a bitch. I'm flying from southern Indiana to Detroit, then to Toronto on Tuesday. Then coming him Thursday. Guessing it will not be a fun travel day on Tuesday.

Here in the northlands, at some point they actually have to bring trucks in and haul it away because they run out of room to pile it up.

We have nothing in southern Indiana. Have not had any kind of accumulation in awhile now.

Our pikes are about 15ft at this point. They are getting huge. I'm curious to see how high they get if it doesn't get warmer and we get more snow.

We're over 150" so far with probably 3-4' on the ground. This is one of the 5 piles from the small parking lot at work. Hard to tell in the pic but it's about 20' high.

What car is that? Looks a lot like a Rover Coupe, that I dreamed I'd one day have when I was younger.

It's a '96 Pontiac Grand Prix SE coupe.

You only have 36" this season? We're somewhere around 80" right now.

About a two hour drive northwest of Fort Wayne. Maybe a bit further. Haven't driven it from here.

I was thinking last night that they might have to start doing that at some point. We haven't had many above freezing days this year. Most winters, we'll get a big snow, it'll stick around for a week or so, but gradually melt off throughout that time. This year it's just been staying. Can't remember when I last saw the grass.

Yeah, it's maybe a 20-30 minute drive from my apartment to the Indiana-Michigan state line. I'm in Mishawaka (just east of South Bend). I wasn't trying to be deliberately cryptic about my location, lol.
Also, I meant northwest. Fixed in edit.

I had relatives from Garrett so I was just curious. It was the best excuse to go to the ACD festival :D

Heck yeah! I went to that a couple years ago for the first time. I'd like to go back.

Nice. The one above is a '96 Rover 216 SE Coupe. Long lost brothers I guess.

What always amazed me about it was that outside of the Festival you could always find really nice old cars for reasonable prices. Last time we went my dad purchased a '72 Pontiac Catalina convertible that just had a new white top and the body gone over & primer'd for $1,700. Another $1,700 later and it was sprayed in fire engine red and he was on his way back to MD with it. I miss that car.

Welp, I had to go digging for this data. The total snowfall plots are at the bottom of each chart. I had to guesstimate how much of the 2013 snowfall total was from the 2013/14 winter portion and then added it to the 2014 totals so far.
For Madison, WI, snowfall totals :
2013 (about 28" for the 2013/2014 winter)
2014 - 12.4"
So call it about 40" total.
2013 - about 17" total for the 2013/2014 winter.
2014 - 35.7"
So about 53" total for this winter.
You still win, but not with 80". ;)

Just curious, does your area get lake effect snow?

Yup. We're not the heaviest hit by it in the area, but we get a significant amount. Weirdly, I think most of our snow has been actual system snow this year.

I live in Sudbury, Ontario. We dumptruck that snow to a cliff and dump it there. It was Mid October before it all melted last year.
